Grief

I had a lady came in who is 67yrs old with hypertension and was on amlodipine 5mg daily. Her resting BP was 130/76 mm Hg. She often complained of chest discomfort with feeling of getting a heart attack. This was on and off; she had done many ECGs over a year and visited many doctors with no resolution. Her sleep was alright. After probing further she talked about her late husband – he had a sudden cardiac death and she was overseas at that time; it was like there was no closure and the stress built up. She lives with her inlaws and has constant stress.

Seeing the grief I decided to try Ignatia 1M 2 drops daily for 3 days.

On the 4th day she came back saying the chest pain had gone, she had a good cry and released her burden of regret and sadness. Her BP was better 120/80 mm Hg. She was calm and was very thankful.

Suicidal thoughts

A recently divorced 32 yr old lady came in with severe depression and suicidal. She had started punching walls to bruise herself. She was feeling worthless. She had primary infertility due to bilateral fallopian tube strictures. She also complained of loss of appetite and she had lost 8kg in 2 months.

She visited a psychiatrist and was put on a SSRI. She became lot worse after that. She refused to increase the dose. Hence she came in to seek second opinion.

I put her on homeopathy Ignatia 10M 4 drops BD. And after 5 days for follow up visit she walked in clinic very calm and composed. There was no more crying. No more bruising of knuckles, her appetite had also improved. She was feeling happy and relived now!

Lung infection

A 97 years old, frail man, ex heavy smoker with COPD and lung scarring with recurrent lung infections, with also a history of dementia and prostrate cancer. He has been bed bound for a few years. Can’t swallow due to muscle wasting and is on tube feeding. Recently he was admitted with chest infection and increased sputum production. His sputum was thick, yellow in colour and would require suctioning every 2 to 3 hours. Every now and then he would vomit out coffee ground contents despite tolerating tube feeds. He was put on multiple courses of antibiotics, including Rx for MRSA in the hospital. The phlegm still persisted even after use of steroids, though it helped a bit. He would still have very thick, tenacious sputum congesting his airways and would cause severe bronchospasms and terrible wheezing. Finally after 5 weeks of hospital stay and completed the antibiotics course, he was sent home and was asked to continue home care for him.

Once at home care he was given DNAse, ozone, Trichostatin A, antiviral combo, with homeopathic remedies solidago Q, and nat mur to increase his sodium level and also bacillinum 4 drops twice a week.

After only the 1st dose of all the above, in about 3 to 4 hours, all his sputum/secretions disappeared permanently. He was no longer chesty and slept very well. Next day, he opened his eyes wide, called his son’s name, asked for his daughter and another son (by their name) and asked a few relevant questions about them. He started speaking coherently and clearly in a few dialects with his son. He asked for his favourite food. Family was quite shocked that he’s so alert and this is maintained for weeks, everyday. Son said dad was as bright as he was 3 to 4 years ago. Hence son was rather elated and amazed that the homeopathic drops gave remarkable and miraculous/unthinkable results. The caregiver was also happy because she could sleep longer hours and no longer need to do regular suctioning of secretions.

Note: The bacillinum was the clincher here. Since the remedy is made from a terminal TB patient’s lungs, it covers fungal, pseudomonas and mixed infections.However, remember that bacillinum is a very potent nosode. We don’t want to drive inflammation too much. Hence dose is 4 drops twice a week, and not a daily dose. Even in fungal infections it should be used once or twice a week maximum.

DNAse helps to dissolve thick mucus like in cystic fibrosis and ozone acts as an antibacterial.

Trichostatin A works as an HDAC inhibitor. HDAC inhibitors are required in chronic infections to kickstart the body’s immune system by improving T cell functioning.

A 38 year old female patient came with severe burning pain in the ear and mandible. Oral examination revealed an old failed root canaled tooth which was positive for pain on percussion. Re RC treatment attempt was deemed failure and hence the tooth was extracted. After the extraction of the tooth, her pain in the mandible had stopped but severe throbbing pain in ear still continued. Consultation to PG and ENT showed no conclusive diagnosis and treatment.

Homeopathy remedy Belladonna was started and patients’ pain subsided in one day. After 2 days the pain had completely gone.

A female adult patient came with a complaint of pain and bleeding in the lower gums. Scaling was done and full deworming course was prescribed. At the follow-up visit, clinical examination showed that the mucosa was back to complete health. She gave feedback that she no longer has issues of burping, gas, acidity or headaches which she was suffering from since a few years.

Note: Many patients have puffy and bleeding gingiva despite extensive periodontal surgeries and regular scaling and hygiene practices. These patients usually have bad oral hygiene with complaints related to gastric problems. Oral cavity is truly the gateway to the whole body. Don’t miss even the slightest signs.

The deworming course includes albendazole, nitazoxanide, ivermectin and praziquantel in a sequential manner.

A 38 year old female patient complained of mouth breathing since pregnancy, atrophic rhinitis (torn skin of nostrils inner surface), bad smell in nose. She would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath and would wash nostrils with water to get the mucus out and to get relief from dry nose. She had 90% blocked left nostril with deviated nasal septum (DNS) and had been advised surgery by ENT. Patient could not undergo the procedure as her child was 9 months old and she was feeding the child.

She was prescribed homeopathy Luffa Operculata, Kalibichro, Lemna Minor and proprietary oral antifungal combo drops. In just 2 weeks the patient got relief and was able to breathe normally through both the nostrils.

She was also suffering from chronic sinusitis since past 7 years along with severe headaches. Her chronic complaints also cleared up and her face and cheeks were not tender to touch anymore. She also reported that her recurrent sore throat infection had stopped and follow-up revealed that she did not have a relapse in 2 years after the treatment.

A young female patient came in with a complaint of extremely painful oral ulcers. She had visited another physician who had prescribed her vitamin B12, analgesic for the pain and an antacid. She did not receive any relief and came into our dental clinic for a second opinion. She was also non responsive to topical lidocaine and topical steroids. The patient also complained of frequent burping.

On clinical examination multiple ulcers were seen on the movable mucosa /parts of the mouth (tongue and lips). Marginal gingiva in the entire mouth was soft, puffy, extremely red and bled on slight touch.

Patient mentioned that ulcers started when she was stressed due to school studies. She described herself as one who needs consoling when stressed and likes to cling to a loved one for relief.

We postulated that her primary issue is indigestion which must have caused her acidity and thereby oral ulcers. All medicines were immediately asked to be discontinued.

Treatment : Considering the burping homeopathic remedy lycopodium was given. Considering that the ulcers had central necrosis with burning, homeopathic remedy arsenic album was given.

After just 3 days, the patient reported that the ulcers almost healed and the issue of frequent burping also went away. Clinical examination after 7 days showed resolution of all the ulcers.

Rationale : The ulcers were suspected to be stress ulcers since the patient was about to give her board exams and complained that stress was bad. Thus stress causing sympathetic excess triggered the ulcers. Lycopodium improved parasympathetic tone and arsenic album triggered rapid healing.

Early greying of hair

Early greying of hair

A 21 yr old male patient complained of early greying of hair. Patient did not have a family history of early greying of hair. He had an itchy scalp and dandruff. After 3 months of treatment with hair topical, oral antifungal combo and homeopathic remedy lycopodium, hair colour changed to black along with the resolution of dandruff.

Note : This is a case of norepinephrine and sympathetic nervous system triggered early greying of hair. The beta 2 adrenergic receptor gets triggered by the norepinephrine causing the melanocytes in the hair bulb to migrate out of the hair root causing greying of the hair.

We just blocked out the beta 2 receptor with lycopodium; this stopped the melanocyte migration and restored the hair color. Treating the malassezia or fungal infection was important too because it was triggering the sympathetic nervous system which can also cause the greying of hair even without the beta 2 adrenergic receptor.

Note: For late stage greying of hair, eriodictyon topical is very useful when added on.

A 40 yr old female patient with rheumatoid arthritis since past 8 years came in to seek treatment. She was on methotrexate, corticosteroids, plaquenil and anti IL 6 blocker (actemra – Tocilizumab).

The complaints included painful joints of fingers, insomnia and excess fatigue. The joints were painful in the morning and the pain would increase by evening after full days of work. She reported pain to be better on rest and also that she has increased thirst. She noted that her autoimmune condition had started after the stressor event. She has as autistic child and after this her symptoms had started.

She was put on homeopathy Ignatia to relieve stress. After a day she reported normal sleep, however, her joint pain did not improve with ignatia. She was then put on oral cytokines VIP and Trichostatin A, dose 20 drops BD. After about a week we were able to stop her steroids and methotrexate. After another 2 weeks we stopped actemra.

As the patient still had little pain after about a month, she was given homeopathy bryonia (modality of patient being better on rest); with just 3 days after the bryonia patient reported that all her pain were gone and now the patient was off plaquenil too. Bryonia regulates vasopressin.The hypervigilance behaviour required as a mother with an autistic child had triggered abnormal vasopressin oxytocin responses leading to autoimmune arthritis.

On side note her autistic child was given croc, a month before we started treatment of the mother. By then the child had started stringing words together and forming sentences. As the stressor also improved the mothers response to the treatment also improved.

Guillain-Barre syndrome

A patient reported that they developed Guillain-Barre syndrome after a chest infection. The current symptoms which prompted the patient to seek treatment was difficulty in walking and numbness of hands.

Homeopathy conium 1m, dose 4_0_0 was given for 2 weeks which showed daily improvement in the reported symptoms. After 2 weeks the patient complained of cough. As it was suspected to be aggravation of the conium, it was stopped and we waited. Once cough subsided, the conium was restarted.

After another week of conium, improvements had slowed down. Oral cytokine interferon lambda was now added. With interferon lambda, the patient reported improvement in both the symptoms with no other aggravation. After continuing the conium and lambda for 2 months the patient reported that there are no symptoms left.
